Research commission
The IIS Biobizkaia Research Commission is the Institute's main scientific advisory body.
Its mission is to plan scientific research, ensure the coherence and continuity of the prioritized research areas, share experiences, results and progress of the open research areas, prepare reports related to scientific projects, and ensure that research that carried out throughout the Institute conform to the general ethical principles that should inspire it.

Clinical Research Ethics Committee
For the management and evaluation of clinical trials in the Basque Country, there is an autonomous Clinical Research Ethics Committee (CEIC). Locally, the Biobizkaia Institute has a specific CEIC for single-center trial projects, which offers its services both to the Institute and Hospital itself, as well as to the San Eloy Hospital, Gorliz Hospital and the Ezkerraldea and Uribe-Kosta Primary Care regions.
The CEICs have their powers and activity regulated by the regulations of the different Public Administrations, European, state and autonomous.
