Presentation
Biobizkaia Health Research Institute covers all R+D+I in the Historical Territory of Bizkaia. For the deployment of innovation and support to health system professionals, it has an innovation system certified with the UNE 166002 standard.
We define innovation as the introduction of new services, products, processes or new organizational methods that add value, achieve sustainable results over time and improve our competitiveness.
Biobizkaia HRI supports the healthcare organizations (OOSS) of Bizkaia, OSI Ezkerraldea Enkarterri Cruces, OSI Bilbao Basurto, OSI Barrualde Galdakao, Red de Salud Mental Bizkaia, OSI Barakaldo Sestao, OSI Uribe, Hospital Gorliz, Hospital Santa Marina.
In some OOSS, depending on the development of innovation, they may have innovation units per organization or receive support from the Institute's innovation unit. These units will facilitate the relationship with organizations from other sectors, companies, institutions and other stakeholders to promote and encourage the design and co-creation of new products and services.
To this end, we manage innovation by promoting the generation of innovative ideas, transforming them into R&D&I projects that can be put to good use, protecting and exploiting the knowledge of professionals, boosting monitoring and forecasting activities, as well as managing technology transfer to the organization through BIOEF's OTRI. As an institute, our focus is on scientific and technological innovations.
If you are developing an innovation project or research with a market focus … protect your knowledge!
A communication at a congress, the reading of a doctoral thesis or a publication in a journal would be grounds for non-compliance with the novelty requirement. Once the patent application has been filed, the content of the invention may be published in scientific journals and disclosed by other means, without having to wait for the patent to be granted. Contact the Innovation Unit and we will accompany you through the process.
The Innovation Platform, through its participation in the ITEMAS Platform for dynamization and Innovation of the industrial capabilities of the SNS and its effective transfer to the productive sector (ITEMAS ISCIII), aims to promote translational research generating innovation in the sector non-pharmacological technologies and health materials regarding equipment, devices, reagents, materials and ICT in health.
In the same way, the Institute, through the Innovation Platform, has participated in the Cross-Border Biomedical Research Network of the Pyrenees REFBIO II, financed by the European Program POCTEFA (Interreg Territorial Cooperation Program V-A Spain-France-Andorra), for the promotion of sustainable development of the border territory between the three countries.
