The recently-established area of Innovation in surgery, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics and health technologies covers all surgical specialities. Our objective is to carry out high-quality research aiming to improve patient care.

This area has been designed to enable us to provide personalised care, through advances in basic science, surgical technology, bioinformatics and computation, as well as related to quality and patient safety. Supporting this area, there is an educational programme in surgical specialities for undergraduate and postgraduate students. This programme will provide students with clinical and academic skills that will enable them to provide better healthcare.
